Current, Waves and Turbulence Measurement Workshop (CWTM) Abstracts Due - Oct. 24, 2014

St. Petersburg, FL, USA, 2-6 Mar. 2015:  “Quality from End to End“  In today’s world, there have been many changes in the science and technology of current, waves and turbulence measurement.  Sensors are linked to real-time data telemetry, QA, archiving, processing, and distribution systems and what happens to data in these systems is as important as making good measurements.

The objectives of the CWTM Workshop are to provide the ocean community with a forum for technical information exchange and to promote coordination among those concerned with measuring current, waves and turbulence.  Our goal is to ensure that the CWTM Workshop remains the “go-to” forum for people who need to know how to measure ocean motions and how to translate those measurements into meaningful information.

OCEANS'15 MTS/IEEE Genova, Italy, May 18-21, 2015 invitation to exhibit

Jointly sponsored by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), the Oceans'15 Conference and Exhibit is the major international forum gathering together scientists, engineers, responsible ocean users and decision makers to present their cutting-edge research results, ideas, and applications in Oceanic Engineering and Marine Technology. The exchange of knowledge and the opportunities offered to new fruitful collaborations are crucial to the development of innovative technologies to meet the Blue Growth Challenge: harness the huge potential of the world-wide oceans for jobs and growth in a sustainable, environmentally conscious, and responsible way.

Reserving a booth at The Oceans'15 Exhibit offers You a twofold advantage: to increase Your sell-book score, thanks to a three-days in close-contact with scientists and technicians working in Your field of interest, and the priceless opportunity to steer Your concept design and development plans for the near future horizon, to meet the target of advanced technology requests from cutting-edge projects and applications.  Note the early booking opportunities!

5th IEEE Integrated STEM Education Conference (ISEC '15), Mar. 7th, 2015

This year's theme is Creating a Culture of Achievement.  While all papers on methods of and experience with integrating education (or interdisciplinary education) in science, math, engineering, and technology (STEM) are welcome, we are very interested in papers on STEaM (STEM+art) that have resulted in improved student performance in STEM studies, especially among students from underrepresented populations in the disciplines.  Details at:  http://ewh.ieee.org/conf/stem

Joint OES/WIE student sponsored to attend OCEANS in St. John's, Newfoundland

IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) member Katherine Domrese from the University of Connecticut School of Engineering was recently sponsored to attend the recent OCEANS meeting in September.  She reports that "Everyone I talked to was very friendly and excited to share their experiences with me." OES has approved sponsorship of two more WIE students to attend future OCEANS conferences.  Keep an eye on WIE's Facebook feed and newsletter: (http://www.ieee.org/membership_services/membership/women/newsletter/index_newsletter.html)
