    ADCOM Elections for the class of 2013

    Nominations for the OES Adcom for the class of 2013 are now open. Please submit a short biography, a headshot jpeg, and a short dissertation describing what actions you would pursue to improve the management of the society if you are elected to the Adcom. The nomination period will end on 15 March 2012. Please submit the required paperwork electronically to the OES Junior Past President at j.barbera@ieee.org. The results of the electronic election administered through IEEE headquarters will be available by 15 August 2012. Adcom members are expected, as a minimum, to attend two Adcom meetings annually. These meetings are usually held at the two OCEANS conferences sites just prior to the conference. Other duties for Adcom members will be as assigned by the sitting President of the society. Adcom service is limited to two consecutive three year terms as outlined in the society governing documents. Past Adcom members may serve again after a one year hiatus.

    Seeking Distinguished Service Award Nominations 2012

    The OES presents an award each year to a member that has provided sustained service to the society. The member should have an in depth involvement in the society. Nominations for this award are now open. The forms for the nomination can be found on the society web site. They should be submitted to the Junior Past President at j.barbera@ieee.org by 1 May 2012. The DSA committee will make a selection from the list of candidates by 15 August. The award is to be presented at the fall OCEANS conference in Virginia Beach. In addition to the award the society will pay the expenses for the awardee and a companion to the event.

    The candidates nominated but not selected will remain as candidates for the succeeding two years.

    Seeking Distinguished Technical Achievement Award Nominations 2012

    The OES society annually presents the Distinguished Technical Achievement Award to a candidate that has established a technical reputation in the Ocean community. Nominations for this award are now being accepted. Forms form submission of nominees can be found on the society web site. The due date for the nomination is 1 May 2012. Please send the forms and recommendations via email to the Junior Past President at j.barbera@ieee.org. The DTAA selection committee will make a selection from the list of nominees submitted. The award is to be presented at the fall OCEANS conference in Virginia Beach. In addition to the award the society will pay the expenses for the awardee and a companion to come to the site.

    The candidates that are not selected will remain on the ballot for the next two succeeding years. For this year there are three candidates that will not need to be resubmitted.
