OES Electronic Newsletter Vol. 1, No. 1. January 13, 2004

In this issue:
OES co-sponsors the International Geoscience And Remote Sensing Symposium, IGARSS '04, Anchorage, Alaska on September 20-24, 2004.
As a transitional step toward convening two OCEANS Conferences each year, the OES will be joining with the IEEE Geoscience & Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) in cosponsoring the International Geoscience And Remote Sensing Symposium, IGARSS '04, to be held in Anchorage, Alaska on September 20-24, 2004. The OES will be augmenting GRSS by presenting oceanic engineering technologies that can serve as "ground truthing" for above water remote sensing technologies.
Summary oceanic engineering topics include:
 - Current Measurements & Oceanographic Instrumentation
 - Oceanic Applications of Remote Sensing Technologies/Techniques
 - ROV/AUV Sensor Platforms
 - Underwater Acoustics and
 - Underwater Signal Image and Information Processing.

OES involvement with the IGARSS '04 Symposium is in addition to our regular MTS/IEEE OCEANS '04 Conference to be held in 2004 in Kobe, Japan, in conjunction with the Techno-Ocean '04 Conference. The OES AdCom views IGARSS '04 as a great opportunity to foster discussions with and develop collaborations with those addressing similar problems in a closely related field.
