OES Electronic Newsletter Volume 3, Number 2, February 2, 2006

What's happening to the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering?

The July and October 2005 issues of the Journal will be available online (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org) by February 10th 2006, and the printed copies will be mailed to the membership in a single shrink-wrapped package by February 17th 2006.

The July 2005 issue contains a special section on "Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging of the Ocean Surface", and the October 2005 issue contains a special section on "Interaction of Low- to Mid-frequency Sound with the Ocean Bottom". Publication of both issues has been delayed in part because of difficulties assembling these special sections - but we thought that they were worth waiting for and we hope that you agree.

Two other special issues are in production: "Effect of Sound on Marine Mammals" (January 2006) and "Capturing Environmental Uncertainty in Sonar Performance" (April 2006). They should be out by the end of April 2006.

Since January 1, 2006, manuscripts submitted for publication in the Journal have been processed through a new online management system hosted by eJournalPress. Authors may now log in to track the review process of their submitted manuscripts. For more information, please visit http://joe.msubmit.net.

Thank you for your patience while we strive to streamline the manuscript management process and improve the timeliness of publications.
