GEO Secretariat Vacancy Notice

A new vacancy notice for the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Secretariat
has been posted on the GEO website. As this vacancy notice is for a
fixed-term position within the GEO Secretariat under the staff rules of the
WMO, please note the following:

1. In accordance with Article 15 of the Standing Arrangement Between GEO and
the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), "a person selected for a
position in the GEO Secretariat will have the status of a WMO staff member
assigned exclusively and solely to support the GEO Secretariat. The
appointment will be for service with the GEO Secretariat only, and does not
give any right of transfer of appointment to WMO."

2. In accordance with WMO Staff Rules 121.1 and 142.2, posts in the General
Service category are normally restricted to local recruitment.

3. Applications should be made on WMO Personal History Forms which may be
obtained from the WMO Secretariat on request, or downloaded from the
Internet http://www.wmo.int/web/hrm and should be addressed under
confidential cover to:

Due to the expected volume of applications, receipt of applications cannot
be acknowledged individually. Only applicants in whom the GEO Secretariat
