OCEANS 2011 Santander Spain - Call for Papers - deadline 15 Jan. 2011

The Organising Committee and the IEEE-OES Spanish Chapter are proud to invite you to OCEANS'11 IEEE Santander Conference, which will be held in Santander (Cantabria), Spain, from 6th- 9th June 2011.

Since June 2005, the prestigious OCEANS conference series is celebrated every year promoted by the Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) of the IEEE. Its goal is that engineers and scientists promote, disseminate and exchange their knowledge and scientific-technical advances in the fields of Marine Technology, Ocean Science and Ocean Engineering. This is done with the purpose of raising awareness regarding the important role played by the sea in our lives and our environment and the use of technology to preserve it.

Request for Nominations to the Administrative Committee, Class of 2012

The IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society is governed by an Administrative Committee of 18 members. Six are elected each year to serve three-year terms. Members are limited to two consecutive terms, although they may be reelected after a lapse of one year.

The nominations for candidates to be elected to the OES Adcom are open for the class of 2012. Each nominator should submit the following for their candidate:

    1. A short write-up for the nominee's technical qualifications and OES involvement.
    2. A statement from the nominee indicating his/her willingness to serve and an indication of how they would serve the society as a member of the Adcom
    3. A jpeg photo - head shot-to be included in the biography area in the electronic ballot.

The deadline for nomination is 15 March 2011. Self nomination is acceptable. Any society member in good standing is welcome to be nominated. A petition period is available from 16 March until 15 April for someone that missed the deadline for some good reason. The procedure is outline on the society web site.

Once the nominations are complete IEEE headquarters will send each OES member an electronic ballot beginning about 1 May and voting will end on 1 August. The selectees will be notified and formally announced at the fall OCEANS conference.

Please send all data in electronic format to Jim Barbera at j.barbera@ieee.org.
